Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Assistant Engagement and Pastoral Co-Ordinator to join our team. In this role, you will support the Engagement and Pastoral Co-Ordinator in fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages student engagement, emotional well-being, and academic success. You will work closely with students, families, and staff to implement strategies that address individual needs and promote positive outcomes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Engagement and Pastoral Co-Ordinator in developing and implementing engagement strategies.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, addressing their social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of individualized support plans for students.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to monitor student progress and adjust support plans as necessary.
  • Help coordinate communication between the school, families, and external agencies.
  • Participate in organizing activities that promote social skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Support students in developing positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Assist in managing and resolving conflicts and behavioral issues in a constructive manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral capacity.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students in a Pupil Referral Unit.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.

Desirable:

  • A degree or qualification in education, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience in behavior management and conflict resolution.
  • Training in mental health first aid or similar support qualifications.
  • Familiarity with local support services and agencies.
