The Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient PE Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist our PE teachers in delivering high-quality physical education lessons, with a specific focus on supporting students with challenging behaviour. You will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and participation in physical activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist PE teachers in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons.
  • Support students with challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively in physical activities.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as needed.
  • Help set up and maintain PE equipment and facilities.
  • Foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of individualized support plans for students with specific needs.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour to teaching staff and parents.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities related to physical education.

Key Skills, Attributes, and Requirements:

  • A passion for physical education and promoting active lifestyles.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the needs of the students and school.
  • Relevant qualifications in physical education, sports coaching, or a related field are desirable.
