The Role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated PRU Teaching Assistant to join our committed team. The successful candidate will support the teaching staff in delivering a tailored curriculum designed to meet the individual needs of our students. You will play a crucial role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build self-esteem, and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse needs.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour, and well-being.
  • Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, counsellors, and external agencies.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of classroom resources and equipment.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
  • Support the school's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Key Skills, Attributes, and Requirements:

  • Experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and training.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or a related field are desirable.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working with colleagues and the wider school community.
