TeacherActive is currently working alongside a secondary school in Wiltshire to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their resource base. This role will involve working 1:1 with students who require personalised support with their learning, emotional regulation, and social development.
As part of the resource base, you’ll work closely with both the pastoral team and teaching staff to ensure that every student has access to the support they need to succeed. The role is particularly suited to someone with experience working with SEND, especially Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and SEMH needs, within a school or care setting.
This is a long-term position, with strong potential for progression or permanent placement for the right Learning Support Assistant. You’ll primarily be supporting students in Key Stages 3 and 4, within a welcoming school community that values collaboration between the resource base, teaching staff, and pastoral team.
As a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 support to students within the resource base setting
Assisting with emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour strategies
Supporting students to access the curriculum and develop key life skills
Collaborating with the pastoral team to implement support strategies tailored to individual needs
Encouraging independence and resilience in the young people you work with
The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have:
Experience supporting young people with additional needs in a 1:1 or small group capacity
Knowledge of SEND, including Autism, speech & language needs, and SEMH
A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of the resource base and pastoral team
A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
