How to get started with TeacherActive

Step 1: Registering with TeacherActive

Start your journey with TeacherActive by filling in our contact form, giving us a call, or applying directly with your CV. If your skills and experience match what our schools are looking for, one of our specialist recruitment consultants will be in touch to guide you through the next steps of the registration process.

Step 2: Visit us in branch

Once you’ve registered, we’ll invite you to a local branch interview where we’ll talk about your skills, experience, and the kind of role you’re looking for. You’ll meet your dedicated recruitment consultant, who’ll support you in finding education jobs that align with your strengths and goals.

To help us get everything set up, please bring your Enhanced DBS (registered on the Update Service and including the children’s barred list) if you have one. If not, don’t worry — your consultant will guide you through how to apply. You’ll also need two forms of ID, proof of address, your qualifications and training, referee details (including one from an education setting), and your up-to-date CV. If relevant, we may also ask for an overseas police check, visa or work permit, your National Insurance number, and bank details. Many of these documents can be shared digitally, and your consultant will let you know what’s needed and the easiest way to provide it.

Step 3: The clearance process

Once we've received your documents, our compliance team will begin the clearance process to get you ready for work. This includes verifying all your documents, checking your DBS status or applying for a new one and contacting your referees. Your consultant will let you know as soon as you’re fully cleared and ready to start your new role.

Step 4: Starting work and getting paid

Once you’ve been fully cleared, your consultant will help match you to a role that suits your skills and preferences. As soon as you start working in your new position, we’ll sign you up with our trusted payroll provider, Workwell, to ensure you’re paid accurately and on time. Your consultant will guide you through the payroll setup and answer any questions you have about timesheets, pay dates, or tax. From here, you're all set to begin your journey with TeacherActive in your new education role!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
