Due to increasing student numbers and recent site development, the school is seeking to appoint a passionate and creative Teacher of Psychology to join their thriving Humanities faculty.

Teaching and Learning

  • Teach Psychology and potentially related Humanities subjects at Key Stage 4 and/or 5.

  • Ensure lessons are engaging, inclusive, and meet curriculum requirements.

  • Set and assess homework and classwork in line with school policy.

  • Keep accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback.

  • Participate in external and internal assessment processes.

  • Prepare and adapt learning materials and schemes of work.

  • Uphold school-wide expectations regarding punctuality, discipline, and standards.


Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Honours degree

  • Degree and/or teaching qualification in Sociology, Citizenship, Politics, History, Psychology, or Criminology

  • Evidence of recent and relevant professional development

Experience

  • Experience of teaching in a secondary school (11-16 or 11-18)

  • Ability to teach the following to KS4/5:

    • Psychology (KS4/5)

  • Flexibility to contribute to other subject areas as needed

  • Proven record of supporting student progress and addressing underachievement

Teaching Skills

  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective pedagogy

  • Awareness of current curriculum developments

  • High proficiency with IT and use of digital tools in education

  • Experience using data to plan interventions and improve student outcomes

Key Competencies and Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to inspire, engage, and challenge students of all abilities
