Residential Support Worker – MUST Be Available Weekends

We’re looking for dedicated and flexible Residential Support Workers to join our team, supporting 16–25-year-olds with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Mental Health needs in and around Sheffield.


What the Role Involves:

You will be supporting young people in shared residential houses to develop independent living skills and lead fulfilling lives. Duties include:

  • Supporting with meal planning, cooking, cleaning, and other household tasks

  • Encouraging and participating in social activities and outings

  • Promoting independence, confidence, and safe decision-making

  • Working closely with students to implement their personalised care and behaviour plans


You Must:

  • Be available to work weekends – this is non-negotiable due to the needs of our students

  • Have experience working young people, young adults and vulnerable people
  • Have a patient, caring, and resilient approach

  • Be comfortable working with individuals who may present challenging behaviour

  • Be respectful of privacy and dignity at all times

  • Be adaptable and proactive in a changing environment

  • Have experience with 1:1 support, promoting independence and self-esteem


What You’ll Need to Bring:

  • A valid Child & Adult Enhanced DBS

  • Right to work in the UK (e.g., Passport, Driving Licence, or Birth Certificate)


Induction & Shadow Shift:

Your journey starts with a paid induction, where you'll learn about the college, services, policies, and behaviour support strategies. Immediately after, you'll complete a shadow shift (3:30pm – 10:00pm) at one of our student houses, working alongside experienced staff.

Once inducted, you’ll be fully registered to pick up shifts as part of the residential support team.


⏰ Shifts Available:

  • Mornings (08:00 – 16:00)

  • Afternoons/Evenings (15:30 – 22:00)

  • Sleep-ins & Waking Nights (21:30 – 08:30)

  • Shifts run Monday to Sunday, offering flexibility – but again, weekend availability is essential.


Extra Info:

  • Public transport is recommended as you’ll travel with colleagues to student houses.
