English Teacher (QTS) with EAL Experience – Inspire a Love of Language and Learning
Location: Bristol
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

  • Are you a dedicated and inspiring English Teacher with a passion for language, literature, and helping all learners thrive?
  • Do you have experience supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL), and a desire to make a meaningful difference in a diverse, inclusive school community?

We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded independent school in Bristol, known for its warm, nurturing ethos, exceptional teaching standards, and commitment to developing confident, articulate, and expressive young people. The school is seeking a skilled English Teacher with strong EAL expertise to join their dedicated team.

This is a part-time, four-day-per-week role, which is covering a staff absence. You will be teaching Year 9 English and delivering English as an Additional Language (EAL) support, so experience in both areas is essential. You will also be required to provide general cover across English and EAL lessons where needed. Planning and marking will be required; however, the timetable includes ample time within the working hours to complete this.

You will be joining a school where individuality is celebrated, teaching is innovative, and staff are fully supported in their professional growth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons to Year 9.

  • Provide targeted EAL support to ensure all learners can access the curriculum and make excellent progress.

  • Offer general classroom cover across English and EAL where required.

  • Foster a love of reading, writing, and communication through creative and inclusive teaching approaches.

  • Use assessment effectively to guide learning and personalise support where needed.

  • Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities, literacy initiatives, and events.

What We’re Looking For:

  • QTS (or equivalent) with a specialism in English.

  • Proven experience teaching English at KS3, specifically Year 9.

  • Strong background in supporting EAL learners and adapting practice to meet diverse needs.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students of all backgrounds.

  • A reflective, enthusiastic teaching style and a genuine passion for language and literature.

What’s in It for You?

  • A dedicated consultant available 24/7 to support your career journey.

  • Access to CPD courses and certifications through our My-Progression channel.

  • Guaranteed Payment Scheme (T&Cs apply).

  • Competitive rates of pay.

  • £100–£200 referral bonus for friends and colleagues (T&Cs apply).

  • Simple PAYE payment structure — no hidden fees or admin costs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a welcoming and forward-thinking independent school, where your expertise in English and EAL can have a powerful impact. If you’re ready to help students grow into confident, capable communicators, we’d love to hear from you.
