No, as an agency worker you are not responsible for creating your own risk assessment.
Your placement setting (such as a school, alternative provision or local authority venue) is legally responsible for ensuring the environment is safe and appropriate. They must carry out a formal risk assessment that identifies potential hazards, determines who might be at risk, and puts appropriate measures in place to minimise those risks.
TeacherActive is responsible for checking that the hirer has completed a suitable risk assessment and for sharing relevant information with you before you begin your placement.
If you are ever asked to produce your own risk assessment, please speak to your TeacherActive consultant. While you may be asked to follow or contribute to an existing plan (for example, to help ensure safety during home visits), we will never expect you to create a risk assessment from scratch.
