Compliance, Safer Recruitment & Safeguarding
Your peace of mind is our priority, which is why compliance, safer recruitment and safeguarding sit at the heart of everything we do.
Our dedicated in-house Compliance and Safeguarding Team follows a rigorous safer recruitment process designed to ensure every educator we supply is suitable to work with children and fully prepared for the role. We don't just verify documents, we assess suitability, professionalism and safeguarding awareness at every stage of the recruitment journey, helping schools create safer environments for pupils.
Our procedures are aligned with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) giving you confidence that every candidate has been assessed against the highest safeguarding and compliance standards.
Before entering your setting, every candidate completes:
-
A face-to-face, value-based interview, including safeguarding and professional conduct questions.
-
Identity and Right to Work verification.
-
Enhanced DBS and Children's Barred List checks (where applicable).
-
Thorough professional references and employment history checks, including the exploration of any gaps or safeguarding concerns.
-
Qualification and professional registration checks where required.
-
Mandatory safeguarding training before placement.
Safeguarding doesn't end once a candidate is placed. We continue to monitor compliance throughout their engagement, work closely with schools to manage safeguarding or professional conduct concerns, and maintain clear reporting and escalation processes to ensure ongoing suitability throughout every assignment.

We believe that recruitment should create a positive impact not only within your school, but across the wider education community. Our social value commitment focuses on supporting educators, pupils and local communities in meaningful and sustainable ways. Through our My-Progression platform, we provide free professional development and training that helps educators grow in confidence and bring stronger practice into the classroom.
We also encourage pathways into teaching and support roles, helping new talent enter the sector and strengthening the future workforce. Beyond recruitment, we contribute to local initiatives that uplift young people, promote equal opportunities and reinforce the importance of education. Working with TeacherActive means partnering with an agency that invests in people, supports long term development and is committed to creating positive change across the sector.
