SEND Learning Support Assistant

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a SEND school in Swindon, supporting with their recruitment for a SEND Learning Support Assistant / SEND LSA. The setting is centred on pupil’s development, as well as an intrinsic desire to make progress with their own emotional, social and behavioural skills.

The school, a creative and progressive setting based in Swindon, is seeking a passionate team player to take on this short-term role, although there is potential for this to become a long-term placement for the right SEND Learning Support Assistant / SEND LSA. The setting offers a highly nurturing environment with small class sizes and a strong focus on individualised learning. The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant / LSA will bring a new dimension and skill set to this role, be keen to develop their own skills to adapt to the children’s individual needs and have a positive impact on the wider school.

The position will involve working with students on a 1:1 basis, assisting pupils with a wide range of needs including ASD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD and communication difficulties. A proactive, creative, and resilient thinker with the ability to take control of situations confidently is necessary.

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant / SEND LSA will have:

• Be patient, calm, and empathetic.
• Be open to learning and committed to making a positive impact.
• Be comfortable working with children with additional or complex needs.
• Be willing to support with personal care and moving & handling.
• Be able to build rapport with students and help them feel safe and supported.
• Driving is highly desirable due to the location and nature of the role.
• Experience in an education or care setting is a bonus, but not essential.
