SEND Teacher

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic specialist college in the Bristol area, seeking a dedicated SEND Teacher to join their supportive team. The college caters for learners KS3 and above working at pre-entry to Entry 3 level, many of whom have complex communication and learning needs. The focus is on developing communication, confidence, and independence through creative, individualised learning experiences.

In this role, you’ll teach predominantly across two classes, supported by a skilled team of Learning Support Assistants who know the learners well. All lesson plans and activities are provided, giving you the space to focus on delivering engaging sessions, building positive relationships, and adapting your approach to meet individual needs. On occasion, you may be asked to support elsewhere within the college, offering variety and the chance to broaden your experience in a supportive environment.

This role is ideal for a teacher with experience from early years up to Year 3, or someone who has worked with learners with communication and developmental challenges. You’ll bring creativity, warmth, and confidence to the classroom — fostering a safe and encouraging space where every student can progress at their own pace.

What We’re Looking For:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
• Experience teaching learners with SEND or significant communication needs
• Confidence supporting pre-entry to Entry 3 learners
• A nurturing, patient, and adaptable teaching style
• Experience in early years or lower primary education (EYFS–Year 3)
• A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with support staff
• Ideally, access to your own transport (due to varied site locations)
