SEND Teaching Assistant needed in Doncaster
Salary: £89– £95 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Full-time, agency role

TeacherActive is looking for a passionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist day school in DN6. The school provides education for pupils aged 3–19 with severe learning difficulties, including a small group of Post-16 learners based at an offsite provision. Their ethos is rooted in creating personalised learning journeys that inspire, empower, and prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting pupils with a diverse range of needs. Working alongside experienced teaching staff, you’ll help create a safe, purposeful, and stimulating environment where every learner feels valued and supported. From building positive relationships to assisting with behaviour strategies, you’ll be an integral part of ensuring students thrive both academically and personally.

What You’ll Be Doing -

  • Supporting teachers in delivering tailored learning experiences that meet individual needs.
  • Helping to create a respectful, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Assisting in implementing consistent behaviour management strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with staff to share best practice and champion student progress.
  • Demonstrating high standards of professionalism and care at all times.

What We’re Looking For -

  • Experience working with children or young people with severe learning difficulties.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND on a 1:1 basis is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them to achieve their potential.
