TeacherActive are currently working in collabaration with a school who are seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join their welcoming school community in Coventry.

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will be based within the school’s Resource Base, working closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide tailored support to students with a wide range of additional needs.

These may include:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties

  • Sensory and Physical needs

Your role will involve one-to-one and small group support, helping pupils to access the curriculum, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class and out-of-class support for students with a range of SEND needs

  • Support personalised learning plans and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction

  • Foster an inclusive, nurturing environment that reflects the school’s strong Catholic ethos of care, respect, and high expectations

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals

  • Monitor and report on pupil progress

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND (in schools or other settings)

  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) desirable
