TeacherActive are proud to be working with a wonderful SEND school in the Maidstone area, supporting them in their search for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school provides a warm, inclusive environment focused on helping each pupil develop academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is caring, proactive, and eager to grow in the world of SEND education. The role is available for an immediate start, with the potential to become long-term for the right person.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support students across a range of ages and abilities, including those with Autism (ASD), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), and SEMH needs

  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging, tailored support

  • Help to create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group assistance to students who may need extra guidance

  • Use initiative to de-escalate challenging behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and progress in every pupil


The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant / TA will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs or disabilities

  • An understanding of Autism, SEMH, or complex learning needs

  • Level 2 or 3 CACHE or equivalent qualification (desirable but not essential)

  • A patient, empathetic approach and strong communication skills

  • Team-Teach or MAPA training is a bonus, but not required
