Playworkers Needed in Chelmsford

TeacherActive is currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Playworkers to work in Chelmsford from March 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children’s development through structured and free play within a safe and engaging environment.

Role Overview
As a Playworker, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting children in a variety of indoor and outdoor play activities. You will help to promote creativity, independence, and positive social interaction while ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all children in your care.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising children during structured and free play sessions
Planning and facilitating age-appropriate, inclusive activities
Creating a safe, stimulating, and welcoming environment
Setting up and clearing away play equipment and resources
Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
Following safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
Building professional relationships with children, parents, and colleagues

Requirements

Previous experience working with children in settings such as nurseries, schools, youth groups, holiday clubs, or after-school provisions
A reliable, professional, and proactive approach
Confidence in leading or supporting play-based activities
An enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A relevant qualification in Playwork, Childcare, or Youth Work is desirable but not essential
