TeacherActive is working in partnership with a leading FE college in Northampton to recruit a Lecturer in Construction. This represents an excellent opportunity for either a qualified educator or an experienced tradesperson who is looking to move into a teaching role within a supportive and progressive educational environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Level 1–3 construction programmes, supporting learners in both workshop-based practical sessions and classroom-based theoretical delivery. You will also be expected to contribute to the planning and development of schemes of work, as well as assessing learner progress on an ongoing basis to ensure achievement targets are met.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing learners for progression into employment within the construction industry, ensuring that all teaching is engaging, industry-relevant and aligned with the requirements of awarding bodies and curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons across a range of construction disciplines
- Assess student work accurately and provide constructive, timely feedback
- Monitor learner progress and implement appropriate intervention strategies where necessary
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment at all times
- Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the curriculum
Requirements:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Construction or a related trade discipline
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed), or willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience teaching or training within an FE setting is desirable
- Strong understanding of current industry practices, standards, and expectations
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
