About the role
For September 2026, we are seeking a Head of MFL for a high achieving secondary school in North London. The role is open to qualified teachers of French and Spanish who are looking to step into departmental leadership or build on their current leadership experience. The successful Head of MFL will have a teaching timetable including both French and Spanish at KS3 and either French or Spanish at KS4.
This inner London school sets high expectations for staff and students alike. All leaders within the school set a positive and professional example for their teams, consistently leading from the front. Teachers at this school empower their students to achieve their fullest potential; accountability and ownership are instilled in all students across all subjects to give them the best preparation for life beyond secondary school. All school staff provide a firm and supportive approach to academics and behaviour across the key stages.
To be successful for this role, you will:
- Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge across French and Spanish
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Demonstrate confident classroom presence and leadership skills
- Foster positive relationships with your students, setting and maintaining high expectations
- Demonstrate high standards of professionalism
- Communicate clearly and confidently, verbally and in writing
- Hold UK Right to Work
