What Does a Science Teacher Do?

A Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging lessons across key scientific disciplines. You will support students aged 11–16 (Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4), helping them develop scientific knowledge, practical skills, and critical thinking, while preparing them for GCSE Science examinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Teach Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics depending on your specialism
• Plan and deliver interactive and differentiated lessons
• Conduct and supervise practical experiments safely
• Assess, monitor, and track student progress
• Prepare students for GCSE Science exams
• Maintain strong classroom management and behaviour standards
• Encourage curiosity and enthusiasm for science

Requirements

The successful Science Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)(ECTs are welcome to apply)
• Experience teaching Science at secondary level (KS3/KS4)
• A specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (desirable)
• Strong classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• A passion for science education and student development
