Job Title: Specialist Teacher (SEND / Complex Needs)

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Specialist Teacher to support pupils with complex needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and trauma-related backgrounds. This role requires a compassionate, adaptable professional who is committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of all pupils.
  • Use assessment data effectively to track progress and adapt teaching strategies.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with the school’s behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist staff to ensure effective pupil support.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum delivery, assessment, and behaviour management within special education settings.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate effective teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, professional conduct, and adherence to the Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Personal qualities including resilience, empathy, adaptability, and a passion for supporting vulnerable pupils.
  • QTS/QTLS qualification.
