The Role:
As an SEMH Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs. You will play a key role in managing challenging behaviour, supporting emotional regulation, and helping students access learning both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs

  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner

  • Support the implementation of personalised learning plans

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs

  • Strong behaviour management skills and resilience

  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviour is essential

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice is highly advantageous

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
