SEND / SEMH Teaching Assistant – Stockport
TeacherActive is working with a supportive and inclusive school in Stockport that is looking to recruit dedicated SEND / SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their team after the Easter break.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role will begin on a trial basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent salaried position for the right candidate.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Promoting a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Helping to manage behaviour and support emotional regulation
- Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with SEND and/or SEMH pupils (school or care setting)
- Be patient, resilient, and empathetic
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Be committed to supporting pupils’ individual needs and development
