TeacherActive is working in partnership with a specialist SEND provision in Trowbridge, seeking a dedicated and compassionate qualified SEND Teacher to join their team from September 2025.

This setting supports pupils aged 4–11 years with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication and interaction needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH). Many pupils may experience high levels of anxiety and require consistent support to help them feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.

The school adopts a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach, where building trusting relationships and understanding behaviour as communication are central to practice.

About the Role

You will be responsible for teaching a small class of pupils working broadly within a primary (KS1/KS2) curriculum, adapted to meet a wide range of individual needs and abilities.

The role focuses on:

  • Supporting emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Developing communication, independence, and life skills
  • Delivering a flexible, personalised curriculum
  • Creating a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment

You will work closely with a team of experienced teaching assistants and wider professionals to provide consistent, holistic support for each pupil.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND (ASD, SEMH, ADHD or related needs)
  • A calm, patient, and consistent teaching approach
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, trauma-informed practice
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s social, emotional, and academic development
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a positive mindset
