SEND Teacher (KS2 / Lower KS3)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to support pupils working at Key Stage 2 and Lower Key Stage 3 level, with needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

This role focuses on helping pupils engage with learning, regulate emotions and build confidence within a calm, structured and supportive environment.

This opportunity would suit a teacher who is patient, adaptable and resilient, and who understands that progress may be gradual but deeply meaningful, academically, socially and emotionally.

You will work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, supported by experienced teaching assistants and specialist professionals in a well-resourced setting that values staff wellbeing and professional development.

The Setting

This specialist provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism and SEMH. Many pupils may present with high levels of anxiety and, at times, behaviours that challenge.

The setting adopts a trauma-informed approach, placing strong emphasis on building trusting relationships, creating emotional safety and understanding behaviour as a form of communication.

About the Role

You will teach a class of pupils working at KS2 / Lower KS3 level, delivering a flexible, pupil-centred curriculum tailored to individual needs. Your role will include supporting:

  • Social and emotional development
  • Communication and independence
  • Confidence building and life skills

You will use consistent, nurturing strategies to support regulation and engagement, adapting your teaching to meet a wide range of needs and abilities within the class.

This role is available on a full-time basis, with part-time options considered.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / ECT / NQT)
Experience supporting pupils with SEND (ASD, SEMH, ADHD, learning difficulties)
A calm, consistent and inclusive teaching approach
An understanding of, or willingness to learn, trauma-informed practice
A genuine passion for supporting young people’s development
