Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND provision in Bristol that supports pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties, autism, and complex needs. The setting provides a highly personalised, structured and sensory-focused environment, where communication, emotional regulation and independence are at the heart of everything they do.

The setting is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant on a long term basis from September 2026, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right SEND Teaching Assistant. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, supporting complex communication needs, sensory regulation and behaviours, while following tailored support plans and structured routines, where consistency and the right person fit are essential for pupil progress.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Team Teach training (current or previously completed)
• Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND, including autism and severe learning difficulties
• Knowledge or willingness to learn communication strategies such as PECS or AAC
• A calm, resilient and nurturing approach to behaviour management
• Confidence working within a multi-disciplinary team
• A proactive attitude and commitment to supporting independence and wellbeing
