TeacherActive work in partnership with the local authority to support young people who are currently out of education for wide variety of reasons or needs.
I am currently recruiting for a tutor to support a young person of secondary age, Year 7, who is working below his expected levels, mainly KS2.
He presents with ASD, working in a methodical and orderly manner. Has a diagnosis of ADHD, ASD & Hypermobility.
He is great at science and enjoys this subject, in addition – STEM subject like coding is an interest. He enjoys reading but finds English less interesting and dislikes maths as he wants to know the ‘rules’ in order – so will not access KS3 maths unless he has mastered KS2 maths!
He can write and uses finger-tip grip but is slow to write any large amounts of text.
He will respond to a tutor who is male, who is experienced and professional with a calm and patient demeanour yet can be firm when needed.
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate tutor to support this young person and the family in the Tunbridge Wells area. You will need to drive due to the semi-rural location of the family home.
You will have experience in tutoring on a 1:1 basis, in particular within the SEND needs described above and have experience supporting a young person with an EHCP, multiple SEND diagnosis and physical conditions.
The Tuition Role:
- One-to-one tuition in the young person’s home
- Support a learner through personalised learning plans
- Deliver specific tuition and beyond where applicable
- Build trust and confidence in a safe, supportive learning environment
Ideal Candidate for this Tutor position:
Experienced in working with SEND inc. ADHD, ASD & supporting
- Confident delivering lessons independently and adapting to varied needs
- Patient, empathetic, caring and resilient
- Able to travel locally for face-to-face tuition in the family home
