SEMH Teacher – Primary Alternative Provision
Location: Leytonstone
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time
Are you an experienced SEMH Teacher with a strong background in alternative provision? We are recruiting on behalf of a primary school in Leytonstone that is seeking a confident, resilient and dedicated teacher to lead their SEMH provision from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs and who can create a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.
The successful SEMH Teacher will be responsible for leading a small provision within the school and will work closely alongside two experienced Teaching Assistants. You will be expected to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons, support pupils with complex needs, and implement effective behaviour management strategies to help pupils re-engage with learning.
The school is looking for someone who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status
- Has experience working within an alternative provision or specialist SEMH setting
- Can confidently lead and manage a provision
- Has strong behaviour management skills
- Is able to work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and wider school staff
- Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may find mainstream education challenging
- Is committed to helping every child make academic, social and emotional progress
The role will involve:
- Leading a primary SEMH provision within the school
- Working alongside two Teaching Assistants
- Planning and delivering tailored lessons to meet individual needs
- Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Creating a safe, consistent and positive learning environment
- Liaising with parents, carers and external professionals where needed
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
