SEND Teacher

West Midlands/ contract / £165.00 - 235.68 per day

Maypole | ⏳ Full-Time | Monday – Friday

We are currently recruiting a dedicated SEND Teacher to work within a specialist setting in Birmingham - Maypole.

This role carries full teaching responsibility, including planning, preparation, assessment, and progress tracking. The successful candidate will work with a small class of pupils with mixed abilities and diverse SEND needs, delivering tailored and engaging lessons that support both academic progress and personal development.

This position is being facilitated through TeacherActive, a leading education recruitment agency supporting schools across the West Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated lessons in line with pupils’ individual needs

  • Take full responsibility for classroom teaching, assessment, and behaviour management

  • Support pupils with a range of SEND needs, including Autism (ASC) and ADHD

  • Create a structured, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals

  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to reviews, reports, and EHCP targets

  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK

  • Have experience teaching pupils with SEND, particularly Autism and ADHD

  • Have experience working with small classes with mixed abilities and complex needs

  • Have previous experience in an SEND school or a similar SEND-focused role within a primary school

  • Be adaptable, patient, and confident in delivering personalised learning

  • Have the right to work in the UK

  • Be able to provide two references from recent employers

  • Hold a DBS on the Update Service
    or be willing to complete a new DBS check through TeacherActive

  • If unsuitable for this placement, candidates should be open to working in other schools across Birmingham through TeacherActive
