TeacherActive is proud to be working with an independent special school in Shaftesbury that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where every learner is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships through a personalised approach to education.

The school is looking to appoint a SEND LSA on a long-term basis, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available, including a 3-day-per-week option. The successful SEND LSA will support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping to manage behaviour positively, promote engagement in learning and provide tailored support to meet individual education and care plans.

The successful SEND LSA will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs and Autism

• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care or similar (desirable)

• Experience working within a SEND, special school or alternative provision setting

• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

• A patient, adaptable and proactive approach to supporting young people
