About the Role

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a number of welcoming, inclusive, and supportive primary schools across Tenby and the surrounding Pembrokeshire area. These schools are dedicated to ensuring that every pupil receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). This role offers an immediate start and provides the opportunity to make a genuine and lasting impact on a child's educational journey.

As a 1:1 ALN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, develop key skills, and engage positively within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored one-to-one support to pupils with Additional Learning Needs
• Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Assist with emotional regulation and social development
• Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning needs
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

✅ Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Assistant, or ALN Support Worker

✅ Experience supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including:

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
• Behavioural and communication needs

✅ Strong communication and relationship-building skills

✅ A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach

✅ A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude

✅ A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
