TeacherActive are looking for a compassionate and committed ALN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs within a Swansea primary school. This full- time role involves working closely with class teachers and the ALNCo to provide tailored support that enables every child to reach their full potential.
You may work 1:1 with a pupil or support small groups with a range of needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ALN
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support targets
- Support communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCo
- Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) – desirable
- Have experience working with children with Additional Learning Needs (in school or similar setting)
- Be patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Have a good understanding of ALN , particularly ASD, ADHD, or SEMH
- Be confident using behaviour management strategies
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
