Cover Supervisor – Secondary School

Start Date: November 2026 (After Half Term)
Contract: Temporary – Until February Half Term 2027
Salary: £110 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream secondary school in Cardiff, who are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team after October half term.

This is a full-time, temporary position running until February half term initially, offering an excellent opportunity for someone looking for consistent work within a secondary school environment.

The successful Cover Supervisor will be responsible for delivering general classroom cover across KS3 and KS4, supervising pupils in the absence of their regular teacher. All lesson plans and resources will be provided, allowing you to focus on effective classroom management, maintaining engagement and ensuring pupils remain on task.

The successful Cover Supervisor will have:

• Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor within a secondary school (essential)

• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

• Confidence supervising lessons across a range of subjects

• The ability to follow pre-planned lessons and maintain a positive learning environment

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• A flexible, proactive and professional approach

The role will involve:

• Providing general classroom cover across KS3 and KS4

• Supervising pupils and delivering pre-prepared lesson activities

• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

• Ensuring pupils remain engaged and complete the work set

• Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons

• Supporting the wider school team when required
