Pay: £150 to £240 per day

Are you an English teacher who wants to help young people rebuild their confidence and reconnect with education?

Do you have experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or would you like to develop your experience within an Alternative Provision?

TeacherActive is working with a specialist Alternative Provision in Swindon to recruit a SEND English teacher for a full-time, long-term role starting in September 2026.

The school provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment for pupils who have experienced barriers to mainstream education. Strong relationships, wellbeing, and personalised learning are central to its approach, helping pupils make progress both academically and personally.

As the SEND English teacher, you will take responsibility for planning, preparation, and assessment while delivering engaging English lessons to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs. You will work closely with pastoral and support staff to adapt learning to individual needs and help pupils achieve positive outcomes.

The successful SEND English teacher will have:

  • QTS with an English specialism, with ECTs welcome to apply
  • Experience teaching secondary English, ideally up to KS4
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, ideally within an Alternative Provision or specialist setting
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to plan and adapt engaging lessons around individual learning needs
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people

In return, you can expect:

  • A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to support you throughout our straightforward onboarding process
  • Access to CPD courses and certificates through My-Progression
  • Market-leading rates of pay
  • The TeacherActive Referral Scheme, where you can receive up to £100 when you refer a friend. Terms and conditions apply

TeacherActive staff are paid through PAYE, helping ensure the correct tax and National Insurance contributions are made, with no administration charges deducted from your pay.
