Nursery Practitioners & Nursery Assistants – Essex

Are you looking for flexible work in Early Years? TeacherActive is recruiting Nursery Practitioners and Nursery Assistants to join our agency team, supporting a range of nursery settings across Essex.
We work with nurseries across the county and are looking to build a strong team of reliable, enthusiastic childcare professionals who can support settings with their staffing needs.
Whether you're looking for occasional shifts to fit around your existing commitments, regular part-time work, full-time hours or a long-term placement, we want to hear from you.
THE OPPORTUNITIES
As part of our agency team, you could work across a variety of nursery settings, supporting children at different stages of their early years development.
Responsibilities may include:
Supporting children's learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Helping deliver fun, engaging and age-appropriate activities.
Supporting children's communication, social skills and emotional development.
Assisting with daily routines, including mealtimes, personal care and play.
Creating a safe, positive and nurturing environment.
Working alongside nursery teams to provide high-quality childcare.
Following safeguarding procedures and nursery policies.
WHO CAN APPLY?
We welcome applications from candidates with a range of qualifications and experience, depending on the requirements of each setting.
Qualified Nursery Practitioners
If you hold a recognised Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare, we have opportunities to discuss across Essex. Examples include a Level 2 Diploma for Early Years Practitioners or a Level 3 Diploma for Early Years Educators, subject to the individual setting's requirements.
Nursery Assistants & Unqualified Candidates
If you don't hold a recognised childcare qualification, you may still be suitable for certain nursery assistant opportunities. Previous experience working with children in a nursery, preschool or another childcare environment is beneficial, although requirements will vary by setting.
We are looking for candidates who are reliable, caring, enthusiastic and confident working as part of a team. A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development is essential.

Ad hoc and day-to-day cover.
Short-term and block bookings.
Part-time and full-time shifts.
Regular weekly work.

Shifts and locations will vary depending on nursery requirements, your qualifications, experience and availability.
