TeacherActive is currently recruiting a Head of Mathematics to join a secondary school in Pembrokeshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking leader to take responsibility for the development and success of the Mathematics department.

The Role

• Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
• Inspire and support a team of Mathematics teachers
• Develop and implement an ambitious curriculum that meets the needs of all learners
• Monitor pupil progress, attainment, and achievement across the department
• Support colleagues with planning, assessment, and classroom practice
• Promote high expectations and a positive culture of learning
• Lead departmental improvement and contribute to whole-school priorities
• Teach Mathematics across the secondary age range

Requirements

✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
✅ Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
✅ Previous experience teaching Mathematics within a secondary school
✅ Proven leadership or departmental responsibility experience
✅ Excellent classroom management and communication skills
✅ Strong understanding of curriculum development and pupil progress
✅ Ability to motivate, support, and develop colleagues
✅ Ambitious, organised, and committed approach to education
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
