Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – ASC & SLD

Location: Uxbridge, West London

Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced HLTA with a strong background supporting children and young people with Autism (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)?

Are you confident leading learning activities, supporting pupils with complex needs and stepping in to deliver lessons when required?

TeacherActive is working with a specialist SEND setting in the Uxbridge area that is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.

The role

As an HLTA, you will:

• Support pupils with ASC, SLD and additional complex learning needs
• Lead small-group and individual learning activities
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide classroom cover when required
• Adapt activities to meet individual EHCP targets
• Support pupils with communication, sensory and behavioural needs
• Work with verbal and non-verbal pupils using appropriate communication strategies
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support professionals
• Help maintain a calm, structured and positive learning environment

The ideal HLTA will have:

• HLTA qualification or substantial HLTA-level experience
• Previous experience working within a SEND school or specialist provision
• Strong experience supporting pupils with ASC and/or SLD
• Confidence leading groups and delivering learning activities
• An understanding of complex communication and sensory needs
• Strong behaviour management skills
• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
