Two Exciting Opportunities in a Community-Centred Primary School

A welcoming and ambitious primary school at the heart of the Pontypridd community is seeking to appoint two outstanding Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join our dedicated team.

These are exciting opportunities for experienced practitioners who are passionate about making a difference and who thrive in a dynamic school environment where relationships, community, and high expectations underpin everything we do. We welcome applications from both full-time and part-time candidates and are committed to considering flexible working arrangements for exceptional applicants.

We are recruiting for:

HLTA – Early Years Foundation Phase

A specialist role supporting teaching and learning within our Early Years provision, helping to create engaging, nurturing, and inspiring learning experiences for our youngest learners.

HLTA – Whole School Support (Reception – Year 6)

A flexible role working across the school, providing high-quality support, intervention delivery, and classroom cover where required from Reception through to Year 6.

About the Roles

Both positions require confident and capable HLTAs who can work independently, demonstrate excellent professional judgement, and positively impact pupil outcomes.

Successful candidates will have experience delivering targeted interventions, supporting teaching and learning across a range of abilities, and maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement. The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families is essential.

The successful applicants will work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to support the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils while helping to maintain our inclusive and nurturing school culture.

We Are Looking For Individuals Who:

  • Hold HLTA status or possess equivalent experience and skills.
  • Have a proven track record of delivering effective interventions that accelerate pupil progress.
  • Are flexible, adaptable, and confident working independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Have experience supporting teaching and learning across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Can confidently lead learning activities, small group work, and whole-class sessions when required.
  • Show initiative, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Are committed to supporting every child to achieve their full potential.
  • Share our values of inclusion, community, and continuous improvement.
