TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic specialist SEND school in Thornbury, supporting children and young people aged 2 to 19 with severe, profound and complex special educational needs. This modern, purpose-built school offers an exceptional learning environment with fantastic facilities, including hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and art therapy, alongside a welcoming, friendly and supportive team who are passionate about helping every pupil reach their full potential.
The school is looking to take on a dedicated LSA on a long-term basis, with exciting opportunities to progress into a permanent position for the right LSA. The successful LSA will work closely with teaching staff to provide individualised classroom support, helping pupils with complex learning needs access education, develop independence and achieve their personal goals, with excellent ongoing training, CPD and career development opportunities available.
The successful LSA will have:
Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEND are desirable
Experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs / SEND
Experience working within a classroom, specialist school or similar educational setting
An understanding of severe learning difficulties / SLD, profound and multiple learning difficulties / PMLD and complex needs
A patient, compassionate and enthusiastic approach to supporting pupils
Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop professionally
