TeacherActive is proud to be working with a small specialist education setting in Taunton to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant. The school provides a welcoming, happy and safe learning environment where every child is valued, achievements are celebrated, and pupils are supported to become confident, responsible and independent learners through a therapeutic approach to education.

The school is looking to appoint a full-time Learning Support Assistant from September. The successful Learning Support Assistant will support pupils aged 8 to 19 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and within the classroom to promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or additional learning needs
• A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting pupils with complex needs
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
• A proactive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential
