TeacherActive is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Modern Foreign Languages Teacher to join a secondary school in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, for an immediate start.

This is a temporary ongoing position providing sickness cover on a timesheet basis. The successful Modern Foreign Languages Teacher will work Monday to Thursday, 32 hours per week, delivering both French and Spanish across the secondary curriculum.

The school is looking for a confident and experienced Modern Foreign Languages Teacher who can provide continuity for pupils during the period of absence. The ability to teach both languages is essential, with particular importance placed on being able to deliver Spanish confidently up to A-Level.

As a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that develop pupils’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You will support pupils across different ability levels and ensure lessons are appropriately differentiated to help students make strong academic progress.

You will be expected to maintain high standards of teaching, behaviour and engagement while following the school’s existing curriculum and schemes of work. Strong classroom management and the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with pupils will be particularly important within this temporary cover position.

You will also assess and monitor pupil progress, provide appropriate feedback and support students preparing for examinations, including those studying Spanish at A-Level.

The successful Modern Foreign Languages Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
• Substantial experience teaching within a secondary school setting
• Strong subject knowledge in both French and Spanish
• The ability to teach Spanish up to A-Level – essential
• Experience teaching French across the secondary curriculum
• Experience delivering GCSE-level French and Spanish
• Confidence supporting pupils preparing for formal examinations
• The ability to plan engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• The ability to quickly establish positive relationships with pupils
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to work effectively within an established department
• A professional, reliable and adaptable approach
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach French and Spanish across the secondary age range
• Teach Spanish up to A-Level
• Deliver GCSE French and Spanish content where required
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons covering speaking, listening, reading and writing
• Follow the school’s existing curriculum and schemes of work
• Differentiate lessons according to pupils’ individual abilities and learning needs
• Support students preparing for GCSE and A-Level examinations
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress
• Provide constructive feedback to support academic development
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement
• Create a positive and engaging classroom environment
• Build strong and professional relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Work collaboratively with other members of the department
• Provide continuity of learning throughout the period of sickness cover
• Follow all safeguarding procedures and prioritise pupil wellbeing

• Applicants must have substantial secondary school teaching experience
