Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Nottingham & surrounding areas
Start Date: ASAP / Ongoing Opportunities
Salary: £100 – £130 per day, depending on experience

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA looking for your next opportunity within primary education?

Are you confident leading learning, supporting teachers and managing a classroom when required?

Do you have the experience and enthusiasm to make a real difference to children’s learning and development?

Teacher Active is looking to expand our pool of passionate and reliable Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support primary schools across Worksop and the surrounding areas.

We work with a wide range of mainstream primary schools, offering regular opportunities for experienced HLTAs who are confident working across different year groups and supporting pupils with a variety of learning needs.

Opportunities can range from day-to-day flexible supply to short-term cover and longer-term placements, making this an ideal opportunity for experienced HLTAs looking for flexibility, consistent work or the chance to experience different school settings.

As an HLTA, you could be supporting the class teacher, delivering planned lessons, leading whole-class or small-group activities, providing targeted intervention and supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis. You may also be required to take responsibility for a class in the absence of the class teacher.

A key part of the role will be creating a positive learning environment, maintaining high expectations and helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and academic skills.

The successful HLTA will ideally have:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA or within a similar primary education role
  • Experience supporting children across the primary age range
  • Confidence leading lessons, activities and small-group interventions
  • The ability to manage a classroom and maintain positive behaviour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff
  • A good understanding of the primary curriculum
  • An understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being
  • A calm, adaptable and proactive approach
  • The ability to work confidently and independently when required
  • Flexibility and reliability when working across different primary school settings

In return, you can expect to receive:

  • A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7
  • Access to a wide range of primary schools across Worksop and the surrounding areas
  • Flexible day-to-day and longer-term opportunities
  • The opportunity to gain experience across different year groups and school settings
  • CPD courses and certificates through My-Progression
  • Market-leading rates of pay
  • Teacher Active Referral Scheme – receive up to £100 when you refer a friend. Terms and Conditions apply.
