Job Title: Careers Guidance Teacher / Careers Advisor
Location: South Birmingham
Start Date: January 2027
Salary: £154 – £178 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Temporary with Opportunity to Become Permanent
Working Pattern: Term Time 2 Weeks

TeacherActive is delighted to be working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in South Birmingham that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Careers Guidance Teacher / Careers Advisor from January 2027.
This is an exciting long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent, supporting students across Years 7–13 with careers education, guidance and preparation for their next steps.
The successful candidate will play an important role in raising aspirations, developing employability skills and helping students confidently explore further education, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
The Role
Deliver engaging careers education and guidance sessions across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Provide impartial careers advice to support students with their future education, training and employment options.
Support students with CV writing, interview preparation, career planning and employability skills.
Organise careers fairs, employer encounters, workplace visits and educational events.
Build positive relationships with employers, colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers.
Support the school's careers strategy and delivery of the Gatsby Benchmarks.
Maintain accurate records of careers guidance sessions and student destinations.
Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and senior leaders to improve student outcomes.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Previous experience in careers guidance, Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), teaching, employability or student support.
Strong knowledge of post-16 pathways, apprenticeships, further education and higher education.
Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
Confidence supporting and motivating young people aged 11–18.
A relevant qualification in Careers Guidance, IAG, Teaching or a related field (desirable).
A genuine passion for helping students achieve their potential.
