Job Title: Qualified Science Teacher (Biology Specialism Preferred)

Salary: £172.98 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with Secondary Schools in the Newtown area of Powys, who are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Qualified Science Teacher. A specialism in Biology would be highly desirable; however, applications from qualified teachers with experience delivering general Science are also welcomed. The schools provide a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, with a strong emphasis on developing pupils' confidence, independence and academic achievement.
TeacherActive is looking to take on a motivated Science Teacher on a temporary / permanent basis, with a New Year start available. The successful Science Teacher will support pupils across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4, planning and delivering engaging Science lessons, assessing pupil progress and creating a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and scientific understanding. The role will involve teaching Biology and general Science topics, delivering practical experiments and supporting pupils in developing their scientific knowledge, problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
The successful Science Teacher will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognised in Wales
A specialism in Biology (preferred but not essential)
Experience teaching Science within a Secondary School setting (desirable)
A strong understanding of the Curriculum for Wales and the Science and Technology Area of Learning and Experience
The ability to plan, prepare and deliver engaging Science lessons that meet the needs of all learners
Confidence in delivering practical Science activities and experiments while maintaining a safe learning environment
Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills
Excellent communication and organisational skills
The ability to assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff
A flexible, patient and adaptable approach to teaching and learning
A genuine passion for Science and helping young people reach their full potential
