SEN Support Worker / Learning Support Assistant

Location: Braintree, Essex
Hours: 9:00am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: Immediate Start

TeacherActive is working with a specialist SEN school in Braintree that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Support Worker / Learning Support Assistant on a permanent basis.

The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and the successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils access their education, develop their independence and reach their individual goals.

The role will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs

• Supporting pupils with complex learning difficulties, communication needs and physical disabilities

• Assisting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development

• Supporting pupils with personal care and mobility where required

• Using a patient and consistent approach to support behaviour and engagement

• Working closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff

• Helping to create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment

• Supporting pupils to develop their independence, communication and life skills

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a caring, compassionate and patient nature

• Be confident supporting children and young people with SEND

• Be comfortable providing personal care where required

• Have strong communication and teamwork skills

• Be reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic

• Have experience within education, care, support work or SEN – although transferable experience will also be considered

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent position within a supportive specialist school, working consistent school hours of 9:00am–3:00pm, Monday to Friday.
