TeacherActive is working with a welcoming and well-resourced SEND school in Harlow that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join their committed team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who has experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and is passionate about delivering creative, personalised learning. Experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs would be highly desirable.

About the Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with a range of additional needs, including PMLD, Autism (ASC), and complex learning difficulties. You will work closely with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to create a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment where every pupil can achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Differentiate learning to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where required.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes independence and confidence.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND in a school or specialist setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with PMLD and/or Autism (ASC) is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs reach their full potential.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and differentiated teaching strategies would be advantageous.
