Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant

Salary: £92 - £95 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist ALN school based in Cardiff, supporting young people aged 11 to 19 with Autism / ASD, complex learning needs and behavioural challenges. The school provides a specialist learning environment focused on developing independence, communication and practical life skills through a curriculum tailored to individual needs.
The school is looking to appoint a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term temporary basis, with an immediate start. The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will support pupils working at Pre-Progression and Entry Level, helping them engage in learning, manage behaviours and develop independent living skills through structured classroom activities and individualised support.
The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will have:
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience supporting young people with additional learning needs
Experience working with Autism / ASD, complex needs and challenging behaviour
An understanding of ALN and strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Experience supporting pupils with practical learning, independence and life skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a specialist school team
A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting young people with diverse needs
