Northfield, Birmingham | Start Date: November 2026 | Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity

Are you a passionate, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child’s education?

TeacherActive is working in partnership with a fantastic primary school in South Birmingham to recruit a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with autism.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a positive, nurturing learning environment. If you’re enthusiastic, reliable and ready to make a meaningful impact every day, we’d love to hear from you!

✨ About the Role

Starting in November 2026, this is a full-time, long-term position running throughout the academic year. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to support a Year 3 pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them engage with lessons, access learning and feel safe, confident and included in the classroom.

Consistency and building strong relationships are key to this role, so we’re looking for someone who can provide dependable, tailored support and become a positive presence in the pupil’s school day.

The school has an excellent reputation and a welcoming, supportive team where staff work together to help every child reach their potential. TeacherActive has worked closely with this school for several years, and there may also be the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate at the end of the placement.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with children in Key Stage 2 (KS2).

  • Previous experience providing 1:1 support, ideally for pupils with additional needs.

  • A warm, patient and nurturing approach.

  • The ability to follow the class teacher’s guidance and support the delivery of engaging lessons.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, helping pupils feel safe, comfortable and supported.

  • A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.

  • Reliability, consistency and a commitment to making a difference.

Why Work with TeacherActive?

  • Competitive rates of pay to recognise your skills and experience.

  • Access to a wide range of CPD opportunities and online training courses to support your professional development.

  • A fantastic referral scheme, giving you the opportunity to earn rewards for recommending other education professionals.

  • A dedicated 1:1 consultant who will provide ongoing support, advice and guidance throughout your placement.

  • A friendly, approachable team who are committed to helping you find the right opportunity.

  • The chance to gain valuable SEN experience in a supportive primary school, with potential for permanent employment.
