Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Vale of Glamorgan
Start Date: Immediate Start
Salary: £92 - £95 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist behaviour provision based in the Vale of Glamorgan, supporting children and young people aged 8 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs and additional learning needs / ALN. The setting focuses on providing a supportive and structured learning environment where pupils can develop their confidence, social skills and emotional regulation while receiving the individual support they need to engage with education.
The school is looking to take on a proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis with an immediate start. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will be supporting pupils aged 8 to 16, managing challenging behaviour, building positive relationships and adapting their approach to meet individual needs, while remaining calm under pressure and responding confidently to changing situations.
The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have:
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience supporting children with ALN
Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties or additional learning needs
Experience managing challenging behaviour and using positive behaviour management strategies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
The confidence to think on their feet and respond calmly to challenging situations
A proactive, resilient and personable approach with the flexibility to adapt to different pupils and their individual needs
