TeacherActive is working with a number of primary schools across Wakefield and the surrounding areas. We are looking for experienced SEND Specialists to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a day-to-day and long-term basis, with potential permanent opportunities also available.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience supporting children with Autism/ASC, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, learning difficulties and EHCPs.
As a Primary SEND Specialist, you may be responsible for:
Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEND
Supporting pupils with EHCP targets
Delivering small-group interventions
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Helping pupils access classroom learning
Working closely with teachers, SENDCOs and other support staff
Adapting activities and resources around individual needs
Supporting pupils with communication and social interaction
Creating a safe, consistent and encouraging learning environment
The successful SEND Specialist will have:
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
Experience within a primary school or similar education setting
Knowledge of needs such as Autism/ASC, ADHD and SEMH
Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support
Strong behaviour management and communication skills
A calm, patient and adaptable approach
A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification is desirable
