Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant (BSL)

Salary: £14.26 - £16.50 per hour

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND school in Bristol to recruit a SEND Learning Support Assistant with BSL skills. The school provides an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for children and young people who are deaf or hearing impaired, with a strong focus on communication, independence and ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to thrive.
The school is looking to appoint a part-time SEND Learning Support Assistant from September 2026. The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will work closely with pupils who are deaf or hearing impaired, using British Sign Language to support communication, engagement and learning both inside and outside of the classroom, while working alongside teachers and specialist staff to meet each pupil's individual needs.
The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will have:
British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or proven experience using BSL
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired pupils is desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, caring and adaptable approach
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
